Re: PG fatality at Crestline

Here is the accident report that I believe to be well done and helpful.
http://www.crestlinesoaring.org/node/2648

It is worth reading and hopefully it can help others prevent another tragedy like it. Lua was a fun and free spirit. She leaves behind two kids.

Re: Congratulations Joe Greblo on Rob Kells Memorial Award!!!

Congratulations Joe! I don’t know anyone that has worked harder to keep our sport alive. Not an easy task in our metropolis! I’m forever thankful for your help in getting my two brothers and me safely in the air, starting on that day that you and Rich offered us a chance to try hang gliding on that ...

I’m sure this has already been solved. My guess is that it wasn’t a harness that Dave saw, but some of the red sail that Ken’s glider had on it.

Vintage Sylmar with an Aolus

I got an email from former Sylmar pilot and cartoonist extraordinarie, Harry Martin, with a short film he made around 1980 that shows Sylmar/Kagel and shaky air to air footage of my brother flying his Aolus design that he built. I don’t know how to attach the film here, but if you have Facebook, you...

Very sad news indeed. I will remember Greg for his passion and for patiently introducing tons of people to our sport.
I think the memorial at the beach would be a great idea. Maybe it’s time to do a “Fly Americaâ€Â again.....

Yes, to Colorado in the fall. Also, I plan to start flying the White Mountains any day now and don't want to be restricted by altitude. :)

O2 system

Does anyone have an O2 system that they don't need/want anymore that I can buy? Otherwise, perhaps rent?
Thanks,
Mario

Re: The insurance problem

Mark Forbes has posted lots of excellent information about insurance and the RRG on the USHPA website. If you haven't read it, I'll encourage you to visit the "Information Center and FAQ" at https://www.ushpa.aero/freeflightforever.asp . It's also well worth logging in to the Members area and click...

Thanks for starting this thread Jim. I gave $200 on 12/9 and will give more before the time is up if it is needed. It's a lot of money for me, but just think of all the money I've saved on gas and rides up the hill with this string of bad flying weather! I will let some of my other charitable giving...

Harry, Great to see you and your ol' Fledge are flying! I recently took Carlos' Aolus out for a test flight at Crestline. Someone there by the name of Crazy..... had a Fledge 2 that he was going over to prepare for flight again. I was impressed with the weight and the size of the control frame for c...

That glider looks loopy!!!
I know who you are because my brother Carlos flew with you for years!
I'm sure there are others in the club that will remember you.
Does this mean you are still flying?!?

Great news and thanks for whatever negotiation help that was offered by USHPA. I had my first flight there in 1973 when I was 10 and Joe Greblo and Rich Grigsby offered my brother and me a free try. I knew it was for me the moment my feet left the ground, and that flight is still very fresh in my me...
